Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Everyone is welcome on our trails.
The Rachel Carson Trails Conservancy is establishing a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee to ensure everyone feels welcome on our trails and to encourage participation from all members of the region. The committee’s main objectives are:
- Increase diversity on our trails
- Foster a spirit of inclusivity.
Our committee will be most successful if it is comprised of diverse individuals. Please contact us at info@rachelcarsontrails.org with your thoughts and input as well as your interest in joining the D.E.I. Committee.
- Diversity: the sum of the ways that people are both alike and different. The dimensions of diversity include race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, language, culture, religion, mental and physical ability, class, socio-economic status, and immigration status. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.
- Equity: the fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people, while at the same time striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups.
- Inclusivity: individuals with different identities and backgrounds feel welcome in a group setting.
