Volunteer Opportunities
What's better than participating in the Challenge? Volunteering for it!
Saturday, June 19, is our annual Rachel Carson Trail Challenge. We have some vital volunteer roles that are still up for grabs. Please consider helping out! You'll get a cool Rachel Carson T-shirt, karma points for volunteering and a guaranteed good time! (Karma will seal the deal for getting into next year's Challenge) You may sign up via our online Volunteer Roster.
Some of the roles that are still available include:
- Friends and Family Hike: work at the check-in table
- Trail sweeps
- Supervisor at Sample Rd "mini" aid station
- Recorders (scanning ID tags of participants)
- Announcers
- Picnic set-up help at Harmar Pavilion; transporting supplies in particular. (Contact: dstolz@pitt.edu or text at 412-303-6102)
- Log Cabin checkpoint: aids and water marshals
- Shaffer Run Rd checkpoint: aids and water marshals
- Cooks and aides at the finish
