Harmony Trail Volunteer Workday
We need volunteers like you for cleanup and improvements to the Harmony Trail. Event takes place on Saturday, May 14, 9:00 a.m. to noon. We'll meet at the Harmony Trailhead (gravel parking lot) located on Rt 910 across from Brennan Rd. Directions: click here.
We are going to address a number of issues. The more volunteers we have the more we can get done. No experience necessary and all ages are welcome! We plan to tackle the following work:
- Clean up along the trail, in parking lot and, if the steam water is low and we have volunteers appropriately attired, we can do some work in the stream. We would like to remove some pipe, sheet metal and a hot water tank.
- Fix potholes in parking lot
- Address water running onto and eroding the trail
- Remove fallen trees and other debris from knotweed areas
- Run string mower along the old driveway that goes out to Route 910
- Use donated gravel to fill in areas of the trail that have been eroded
Tools and instructions will be provided. No experience necessary. Please bring work gloves and dress appropriately. Bring drinks and snacks for yourself. Feel free to join us for all or any part of the 3 hours. We will sign verification forms for young people that need signatures confirming their volunteer hours. If weather prevents us from doing the work this Saturday the event will move to the following Saturday, May 21.

For those who have not visited the Harmony Trail for a while you might be interested to know that we have removed the banners we put down to prepare areas for wildflowers. Some of the wildflowers we planted last year should be blooming at this mid-May event. We have also have 3 Bluebird Boxes along or near the trail now. Hopefully these will be occupied by mid-May too.
