Davis, Tom
Describe your background, interests, and vocation.
I used to run a lot, but have largely switched to walking and hiking. I enjoy fishing, biking, camping, reading and gardening. I just retired from an engineering career on December 31st. Sue and I have been marries for 35 years and have a 30 year old daughter living in Falls Church, VA.
Why would you like to be on the RCTC Board?
I’m aware of all of the behind the scenes work involved in races and trail maintenance. As a runner, I always appreciated the volunteers. Now I have the time to commit.
What makes you a good addition to the RCTC Board?
I enjoy helping out, and my background has enabled me to work on a team to achieve goals and resolve issues. I have served on the Crooked Creek Watershed committee and have been in leadership positions with the Arrowhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and the United Methodist Men in this area. I’ve also served on the board of United Methodist Men and YMCA Indian Guides in Austin. I’m a trail steward for the Baker Trail (Garretts Run Road to Pine Hill road). I’ve worked closely with Donna Stolz, Patty Brunner, Dewaine Beard and Steve Mentzer in this capacity and volunteered for several Rachel and Baker challenges. Yesterday was my first DEI Committee involvement. I’m looking forward to their work and outreach.
